Well I'm back again, I took the advice given last time and still things are no better. I was advised to set a time where we have our own space, I did - she now asks for permission to sit in the lounge, making things uncomfortable. We take her to our local occasionally and she will order very expensive drinks and never offers to buy one back. We have a dog in the house, we have given very clear strict instructions about letting him out and she doesnt do it - my expensive curtains are ruined and she doesnt think its a problem. The list goes on - what am I to do>???
If you took the advice, it may be time to move on!
Okay, let's confirm you did the following:
1. You sat her down and set some boundaries
2. You followed through on the boundaries & limits
3. You helped her make friends in the community
4. You encouraged her to sign up for classes to meet others
5. You talked with her directly about your unhappiness re: dog, space, etc and told her her what she needed to change
If you have done all of the above, given her a few weeks to change, and given her feedback along the way, and yet she STILL DOESNT CHANGE, I would say go into rematch. Seems you may not be happy until you match with a more mature au pair that is a bit more independent.
