Au Pair Pocket Money enough to enjoy your time off?
Hi everyone. I am a 23year old South African who is in the midst of the au-pair application process. I was just wondering if in your knowledge/experience, is the +/- $195 enough for an au pair to have a good time during her time off? and for her to travel on her 2weeks vacation? To do a bit of shopping and entertainment?
Any Tips and advise would be much appreciated.

Holiday Pay
I am going on holiday for 2 wks and my au pair is not coming. The holiday was booked long before I decided to get an au pair. Do I still have to pay her even though she wont be working for the 2 wks?
May not be what you want to hear....
But, I think the quick answer, is YES, you need to pay your au pair. There are a few caveats though.
1. Did you talk about it in advance? Did she know you would be away? Did you agree to NOT paying her?
2. Is she taking any of her vacation at the same time? If not, I would encourage your au pair to do so.
